Sorry! And quick update

Posted in Our shop!
December 10th, 2009 by Cynthia

I guess it was inevitable.  With every blog comes an apology for lack of attention to the blog.  Sorry for the neglect.  I guess that even the baby hedgehog in the previous post could not hold you captive forever.  My excuses:

  • We have a houseguest that makes us drink alcohol each night and I end up passing out without writing anything in the blog.
  • We have a deadline so I’m actually working at work.
  • The shop is experiencing a Christmas rush and all the time where I’m not drinking or working is spent filling orders.

Regarding that last point, we have gotten some press for the Xbox 360 Christmas ornament lately.  First on Kotaku.

Which linked to Wonderland.

And finally, they also showed up on this gift guide.  It’s all very exciting, but I’m kind of too tired right now to have a real reaction.  I also read some of the comments about the ornaments (i.e. red ring, too expensive, etc.) but that will have to wait for another post.  ‘Wait’ being the operative word.  (har har…)

Leggo my Lego

Posted in Video games
November 20th, 2009 by Cynthia

We have been obsessed with the Lego series games lately.  They’ve been around for so long, and I had no idea how fun they are until just recently.  So cute, and no talking.

Lego Star WarsIn semi-related news, I read this article in Slate about co-op game play.  Luckily, no one I play with is as jerk-y as what he describes.

Favorite games of all time

1. Grim Fandango – I love the imagery and the dialogue.  In fact, I used the music and some of the poems from this game for an animation in architecture school.

2. Monkey Island – Haven’t tried the latest incarnation, but hopefully I’ll have some time for this soon.

3. Portal – SO EXCITED for the sequel.

4. Katamari – ditto

5. Little Big Planet – This is so cute and fun, but sadly I haven’t played much since my brother moved to another state.

6. Loco Roco – The cutesy noises the blobs make are kind of annoying, but I’m still searching for all the hidden spaces and fruits.

7. River City Ransom – I can’t count the hours my brother and I spent beating up thugs with a chain or steel pipe.  We must’ve finished this game at least a dozen times.

8. Jumpman – I used to come home from school and play this game over and over.  The graphics were so simple, but the game is so addictive.

9. The Simpsons – This was one of the few arcade games I really liked.  The new game is good too.

10. Dragon Warrior – We would spend all summer vacation searching for the metal slime in order to accumulate experience points.  I would never have patience for this now, but at the time, we were obsessed.

Rolling rolling rolling…

Posted in Video games
September 4th, 2009 by Cynthia

I just read today that there will be a new Katamari game coming out in September, Katamari Forever.  I’m super excited, since I couldn’t play the last one (Beautiful Katamari) that only came out for Xbox.  Time to clear out the last week of September, because I want to devote my time to rolling up everything in sight.  In the meanwhile, I feel inspired to make some clay katamaris, or maybe the royal family.
